Subspecies: Sphaerodactylus oxyrhinus dacnicolor BARBOUR 1910 is now treated as a valid species. 
EtymologyNamed after the Greek “oxy” (sharp, spatulate, wedge shaped), and “rhino” (nose) being a reference to the shape of the snout of this species.
