Etymology | Named for A. Stanley Rand (1932-2005), American herpetologist and co-collector of the type series. S. r. strahmi was named after Michael H. Strahm, a herpetologist. He was originally Schwartz's pupil and became his friend. S. r. methorius was named from the Greek μεθόριος (= bordering), a reference to the geographic location of Pedernales, the type locality. |
