DistributionHispaniola: Dominican Republic (Valle de Neiba)

Type locality: 5 km SE La Florida, 500 ft. (153 m), Independencia Province, República Dominicana.  
TypesHolotype: USNM 166960. 
DiagnosisDESCRIPTION: Size moderate (SVL in males to 31 mm, in females to 32 mm); dorsals keeled, only slightly imbricate, axilla to groin 20-28; a few small, keeled mid-dorsal scales in shoulder region; no area of middorsal granules or granular scales; ventrals smooth, cycloid, imbricate, axilla to groin 24-31; dorsal caudal scales keeled, erected, acute, imbricate, ventral caudal scales cycloid, imbricate, not enlarged midventrally; snout blunt, not depressed or decurved; snout scales small, broad, swollen, smooth, juxtaposed; 3 postnasals; 1-3 (strongly modally 2) intemasals; upper labials to mideye 4-6 (strongly modally 4); gular scales smooth; chest scales smooth; midbody scales 36-44; escutcheon 5-9 x 7-25. Color weakly sexually dichromatic; dorsum pink (almost lavender) to very pale gray; a dorso- lateral pair of brown to black lines, usually entire and without interruption; head with an occipital Y but variable in expression from clear and distinct to somewhat blurred, stem of Y at times leading to brown median dorsal line to make dorsal body pattern trilineate; male head and snout yellow; tail in both sexes yellow (more pronounced in males); iris brown with golden pupillary ring, or gray (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 526).
