Type locality: Malabar  
Reproductionoviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesSyntypes: MNHN-RA 0216, MNHN-RA 0216A-E, MNHN-RA 7111, MNHN-RA 7111A; Smith (1935) reported the type as being in Calcutta (= IMMR, now ZSI). The ZSI has no specimens from ‘Canara’ (at present in Karnataka State, western India).

CommentSMITH 1937: 219 gives “GRAY” as author for dussumieri.

Distribution: not in Sri Lanka, fide SOMAWEERA & SOMAWEERA 2009. 
EtymologyNamed after Jean-Jacques Dussumier (1792-1883), a trader-shipowner in the French mercantile marine, who collected specimens from many areas.
