Comment | Diagnose (balicus). Wie vanheurni, aber nur 64 (statt 81) Dorsalsdiuppen von* den Parietalia bis zu einer die Hinterseite der Obersdienkel verbindenden Linie* und nur 12 (statt 14—15) Lamellen unter der vierten Zehe, die auf der Ober- seite hinter den zwei unpaaren distalen Schuppen 5—6 (statt 4) paarig an- geordnete aufweist (Mertens 1957). Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called “lost” and “rediscovered” by Lindken et al. 2024. |
Etymology | Named after Willem Cornelis Van Heurn (1887-1972), a taxonomist, biologist, and preparator who was wealthy but chose to work. He sent most of his specimens to Nationaal Natuurhistorisch Museum, Leiden, and worked there as Assistant Curator for Fossil Mammals (1941-1945). |
