TypesHolotype: ZISP 20006.1, collected I.S. Darevsky, 1986.
Diagnosis
CommentThe species Livoromica bacboensis was described based on a specimen collected by Darevsky in 1986 and listed before as Scincella melanosticta (Darevsky et al., 1986) [V. Bobrov, pers. comm. 9.9.04]

Livoromica was synonymized with Sphenomorphus by Nguyen et al. 2011 based on the diagnostic features of Livorimica shared with members of Sphenomorphus (e.g., buenloicus, cryptotis, incognitus, indicus, mimicus, tonkinensis sp. nov.): supranasals absent; lower eyelids scaly; nuchals oriented flush with parietals; scales on dorsal surface of base of digit IV in three rows; medial precloacals enlarged, inner scales overlapping outer scales; and palm with tubercles. Furthermore, the six supralabials of L. bacboensis also occur in Sphenomorphus bukitensis and S. butleri.

Diagnosis (Livorimica): Eremchenko 2003: 20.

Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024.
EtymologyThe original generic name is derived Latin “livor” = bruise, and “mica” = crumb, referring to the tiny body size and scales of this lizard. The species is named after a name for Northern Vietnam, “Bacbo”.
