DiagnosisDiagnosis: Medium-sized, up to 63 mm fro~ snout to vent; toes not depressed, without a distinct lateral fringe, three rows of scales beneath; rostral reaches nostril but first upper labial scale usually does not; preanal pores present or absent; cloacal tubercles typically in a single row; autotomy restricted to tail base; prefrontal projection strong; upper border of prootic sloping markedly downwards; epipterygoid widely separated from skull roof in protracted skull; usually 25 presacral vertebrae; 6 nuchal ribs; usually 5 basal caudal vertebrae; clavicle expanded; tail usually with 7-12 regular and conspicuous dark bands extending to tip [ARNOLD 1980: 393].

EtymologyNamed after Joseph Richard Slevin (1881-1957), curator of Herpetology at the California Academy of Sciences 1928-1957. Not in Yemen according to SINDACO & JEREMCENKO 2008.
