Reproduction	ovovivparous
Types	Syntypes: MZLU (was ZMLU) No. 129, collected N. Holst, 1897. A lectotype designation by Wells & Wellington (1985) is invalid as it does not specify which of the two specimens under this number is so designated.

Etymology	Named after Latin fascia = band, apparently for the cross-bands in this species.
