Type locality: EI Grito, Finca Los Angeles, Cumbre de Jayaque, 1510 m elevation, Depto. La Libertad, EI Salvador.

Diagnosis 
CommentTantilla brevicauda has been previously synonymized with Tantillita canula (e.g. by WILSON 1986). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “brevis, -e” = short and “cauda, -ae” = tail.
