Type locality: Musté, Municipia Motozintla, Chiapas, México, approx. elevation 450 m.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: A member of the Tantilla taeniata group characterized by a well-developed pale nuchal collar beginning on the posterior portion of the parietals and extending one to one and one-half dorsal scales posterior to parietals, followed in turn by a dark nape band two to two and one-half dorsal scales long, a tan to dark tan dorsal ground color, no pale middorsal stripe, and no pale lateral stripe or a short pale lateral stripe present on the adjacent halves of dorsal scale rows 3 and 4 on the anterior portion of the body.

EtymologyNamed after Jerry D. Johnson, a friend and colleague of the authors.
