DiagnosisDiagnosis: Rückentuberkel schwach ausgebildet, doch von deutlichen Rosetten umgeben (außer in der Rückenmitte); gewöhnlich ein Kiel, gelegentlich auch mehrfache Kielung der Tuberkel. Zählung der kleinen Tuberkel in der Vertebralreihe (falls eine vollständige Reihe vorhanden) 28-42; Rückenschuppen groß (95-140 um die Körpermitte, Gularschuppen 31-45, Interorbitalschuppen 13-17). Verbreiterte Schuppen und Lamellen unter der 1. Zehe 10-13 bis zur Zehenbasis, 13-16 insgesamt; unter der 4. Zehe 15-18 Schuppen bis zur Zehenbasis, gewöhnlich alle zu Lamellen verbreitert; unter der 5. Zehe 17-20 Schuppen bis zur Zehenbasis. Maximale Kopf-Rumpf-Länge 76.5 mm ( a ), 64 mm ( 9 ). Besonders lange Gliedmaßen (hochbeinige Erscheinung); Schwanz stets länger als Kopf + Rumpf. Zehen weniger verbreitert als bei den anderen Arten der Untergattung (Tab. 1). Färbung hell- bis mittel-grau mit gewöhnlich 5 dunklen Querbinden, die fast stets durch einen hellen Vertebralstreifen geteilt werden. Iris im Leben goldmetallisch glänzend. (Joger 1984: 150)

Synonymy: Listed as a synonym of Tarentola mauritanica mauritanica by WERMUTH 1965: 180 and others, following LOVERIDGE 1947. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “angustus, -a, -um” = narrow, and Latin mentum = chin.

T. a. unamunoi was named after professor Miguel de Unamuno (1864-1936), Spanish writer and philosoher.
