Type locality: restricted to Ouargla, Algerian Sahara, 34.85° 5.7333° (WGS84).

CommentSynonymy partly after LOVERIDGE 1947.

This species was apparently described in some unpublished notes by Lataste which served as basis for Boulenger’s formal description.

Etymology not given by Boulenger (but this is apparently a desert species).

Relationships: T. deserti is closely related to T. fascicularis, hence the two are sometimes listed as T. deserti/fascicularis complex (e.g. by Antinucci et al. 2024)
