Distribution: not listed for Niger by Trape & Mané 2015. See map in Šmíd et al. 2019: 39 (Fig. 1).

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin variegatus, colored, party colored, variegated, i.e. the variable, irregular patches or bands, at least in some specimens.
