Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Three to 5 subpostfemoral tubercles; dorsal tubercles almost always separated from one another by 2 or more small juxtaposed scales or granules, 26-29 tubercles in a paravertebral row extending from immediately behind head to level of vent; 37-40 abdominal scales across middle of belly; a total of 35-46 femoral and preanal pores (seen as slight depressions in the scales in females), the series separated in midline by one or two scales lacking pores or depressions; 15 to 19 interorbital scales (Leviton & Anderson 1984). Etymology | The name voraginosusis derived from Latin meaning "full of pits," in reference to the large number of femoral and preanal pores in males. |
