DiagnosisDiagnosis (genus): “Anterior maxillary and mandibular teeth longest, gradually decreasing in size. Head distinct from neck, covered with scales no rostral shield ; nostril in a single nasal. Eye moderate, with vertical pupil. Body compressed. Scales keeled. Tail short, prehensile; subcaudals single.” (Boulenger 1893: 109) 
CommentSynonymy that of PETERS & OREJAS-MIRANDA 1970.

Type species: Trachyboa gularis PETERS 1860 is the type species of the genus Trachyboa PETERS 1860.

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018).

Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024.
