DistributionNamibia, Republic of South Africa (Karroid areas of the Cape and adjacent OFS), SW Angola

Type locality: Neu-Barmen [= Otjimbingue, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia], by implication [Euprepes olivaceus].

ansorgi: Angola; Terra typica: Caeonda, Benguella, Angola.

nigra: Lüderitz Bay, SC Namibia.  
Reproductionapparently both oviparous and viviparous reproduction (Shine 1985) 
TypesSyntypes: ZMB 4209 (n = 3), 4210 (n = 3), Neu Barmen (=Gross Barmen, Namibia), collected C.H. Hahn; MNHN 1470 (1867.133, 2792a) (see Brygoo, 1985).
Syntypes: ZMB 4209, 4210, MNHN 1470 ? (fide BRYGOO 1985) [Euprepes olivaceus] 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Ceriaco et al. 2024: 110 
CommentSynonymy: Euprepes olivaceus Peters, 1862: 21 is preoccupied by Euprepes olivaceus Gray, 1839.

Subspecies: Trachylepis sulcata ansorgii (BOULENGER 1907) has been elevated to full species status by BAUER et al. 2023.

Distribution: see map in Ceriaco et al. 2024: 110 (Fig. 91).

Phylogenetics: Mito-nuclear discordance was observed by Butler et al. 2024 with respect to the geographic boundary between T. ansorgii and T. sulcata. However, both species are supported by molecular data.
