Type locality: “Beim Fluss Moso” [= near the river Moso]

TypesHolotype: RMNH RENA 4626 (fide E. Dondorp, pers. comm. 28 Jan 2019), collected from the Moso River. 
Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Zweifel 1966 and Cogger 1972 expressed the opinion that Tribolonotus gracilis might be synonymous with Tribolonotus novaeguineae (for a discussion see MYS 1988: 148).

Behavior: one of only a few scincid lizards that can vocalize. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “gracilis”, meaning small or lanky, or gracile.
