Type locality: Tropical Ecology Station, Lamto, 300 m north of the Bandama River, Toumodi Department, Cote d'Ivoire.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: A diminutive species of Leptotyphlops with a maximum length less than 115 mm that is closely related to L. bicolor but differs from it in the following characteristics: lower number of middorsal scales (17 - 19, x = 186. vs. 247 - 288, x = 262.), higher number of subcaudals (1 - 16, x = 1.9 vs. 8 - 1, x = 10.2), size and shape of prefrontal (broader than deep, > 0.5 head width vs. as deep as broad, < 0.5 head width), tail termination (vertically compressed ridge vs. cone), lower length/width ratio (24 - 44, x = 5.6 vs. 8 - 69, x = 52.9), longer tail/total length ratio (5 .1 - 7.0, x = 5.6 vs. 2.4 - 4.0, x = .2), and smaller maximum size (115 vs. 185 mm).
