TypesHolotype: IBSP (= IB) 8883 (Instituto Butantan) 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Leptotyphlops koppesi can be distinguished from all members of L. dulcis species group by a suite combination of characters: (1) snout rounded in dorsal view, slightly acuminate in lateral view, (2) rostral scale not extending to imaginary transverse line between anterior margins of eyes, (3) three supralabials, (4) four infralabials, (5) middorsal scales 186-194 in males and 195-208 in females, (6) subcaudal scales 16-17 in males and 13-14 in females, (7) 10 scales around the middle of tail, (8) maximum total length 337 mm, (9) dorsal colour uniformly pale brown, and ventral colouration beige with stippling pigmentation at center and lighter edges of all scales [from PASSOS et al. 2006].
