Type locality: Ita [= Baixo Guandu], Espirito Santo, Brazil

TypesHolotype: IBSP (= IB) 8876 (Instituto Butantan) 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Distinguished from all congeners by the combination of a total length reaching 351mm; rostral not contacting the line connecting anterior margins of eyes; supraoculars present, small, not contacting supralabials; prefrontal small, slightly longer than wide; three supralabials, two between nasal and ocular, one behind the ocular; five scales along the edge of the upper lip between rostral and corner of mouth; one temporal scale behind third supralabial; four infralabials on both sides; dorsals 217-226 in males and 230-232 in females; subcaudals 17-23 in both sexes; 10 scales around the middle of tail; dorsal ground color uniformly brown; ventral ground color light brown, ventral scales with widely white edges, forming a reticulate pattern; hemipenis with a narrow basal portion.

Etymologynamed after the collector of the holotype, W.S.Salgueiro.
