CommentThe author, Samuel Stutchbury, was a curator at the museum of the Bristol Institution for the Advancement of Science, Literature and the Arts from 1831 to 1850 (Crane 1983).

EtymologyNamed after Latin crista, crest; atus/a/um, adjectival suffix: crested, referring to the dorcal and caudal crests or keels first decribed in this species (Charles Klaver, pers. comm., 11 Jan 2023).
