Type locality: “Africa, on the mountains in the interior”; restricted to Zomba Mountain, Malawi (by LOVERIDGE 1953).. Map legend:

TypesHolotype: BMNH (fide GRAY 1865) 
Commentmember of subg. Trioceros. The paper by GRAY is not present in our AMNH collection. 
Etymologynamed after ”Dr. Meller” who is mentioned by Gray in the section about the “habitat” (= locality) of this species without further comment.
