TypesType: BMNH 1946.8.29.66-67 (and possibly additional specimens).
Holotype: ZMB 26412, Type locality: “oberer Pilcomayo, zwischen Tarija und S. Francisco, Bolivien” [Tropidurus praeornatus] 
CommentTwo subspecies according to LAURENT 1982. Shows dramatic sexual dimorphism, especially in adult specimens.
