Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: SAMA R2331, Oodnadatta, SA, collected J.B. Cleland. Mitchell listed a specimen AM R673 from “Camp 49, Simpson Desert Expedition”. This is in error, as R673 refers to a Ramphotyphlops from Riverstone, registered in 1889 (SHEA 1999)
Diagnosis
Comment
EtymologyPresumably named after the Latin intimus (innermost, deepest) and an allusion to the distribution of the species, which Mitchell described as restricted to the Lake Eyre Basin. Lake Eyre is the only point in Australia below sea level. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
