TypesSyntypes: ZMB 809, Nubia; ZMB 811–13, Nubia; ZMB 810, Syria; all specimens leg. Hemprich & Ehrenberg. After DENZER et al. (1997), ZMB 811–13 are lost which we cannot confirm at least for ZMB 811.

CommentUromastyx ocellata macfadyeni PARKER 1932 is now treated as a full species (again). Uromastyx ocellata ornata has been elevated to full species status and U. o. philbyi is now treated as subspecies of U. ornata.

Max length: 30 cm. 
EtymologyFrom lat. ocellus = diminuitive of oculus: eye; with ocellated scales, or patches that look like eyes.
