Diagnosis 
CommentDavid & Vogel (1996) mention Tropidonotus maculatus as a synonym of both Amphiesma petersii and Xenochrophis maculatus. It is not clear to us what the relationship between these species/names is. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin maculatus, from Latin maculus, spotted; polluted; tainted.
