EtymologyNamed after Dr. Hans Gottfried Kugler (1893-1986), a Swiss geologist and paleontologist who worked in the oil industry in Trinidad and Venezuela (1913-1959) before joining the Naturhistorisches Museum Basel as a volunteer (1960-1986).
