Synonymy: WILLIAMS 1976 synonymized Anolis cochranae WILLIAMS 1961 with Anolis semilineatus.

Subspecies: Aristelliger cochranae expectatus COCHRAN, 1933 has been elevated to species status by POWELL (1996). 
EtymologyThis name honors the late Doris M. Cochran, Division of Herpetology at the United States National Museum from 1919 to her retirement in 1968. She was officially given the titles Assistant Curator in 1927, Associate Curator in 1942, and Curator in 1956 (Adler, 1989, Goin 1968).
