| Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A species of Bronchocela, morphologically somewhat close to its allopatric congeners: B. celebensis on Sulawesi, but differs from all species by having medium-sized body (80.0–100.8 mm SVL) in adults; relative tail length (343.7% of SVL); a small gular pouch in males; midgular scales enlarged; ventrals 8 times larger than dorsals; eight enlarged ventral scale rows; ventrals 80–84; lateral body scales narrowly acute, strongly keeled; 6 upper dorsal scale rows on the lateral body directed upward along the body; nuchal crest developed, lanceolate in shape; 12 nuchal crest scales to the level of axilla; longest nuchal crest scale shorter than eye diameter; dorsal crest indistinct; no enlarged scales on temporal region; 8–10 temporal scale rows between orbit and tympanum; 6 canthal scales between supranasal and anterior border of orbit; canthal edge blunt; 3rd finger longer than 4th finger. B. intermedia/petersidoriai was long considered as a synonym of B. cristatella until the species was revalidated from the synonymy of cristatella by Amarasinghe et al. 2026. |
