CommentSynonymy: “the largest portion of published records of C. gallus actually refer to C. pinocchio, including many locality records and almost all published photographs”. C. pinocchio was split off from gallus by Glaw et al. 2025. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin gallus = rooster.
