| Etymology | Named after Latin culter (meaning ‘knife’ or ‘blade’) and the suffix -atus, which means ‘possessing’ or ‘provided with’. Thus, cultratus translates to ‘knife-bearing’. This refers to the sharp appearance of the tail but also alludes to the type locality of Serra do Moco, whose name ‘Moco’ derives from the local Umbundu word ‘Omoco’, meaning ‘knife’. |
