DiagnosisDiagnosis: SVLmax of the male 47.6 mm, and SVLmax of the female 51.4 mm; blunt snout; eye large; smooth, rounded dorsal tubercles usually forming 10 rows across the middorsum, 28 – 35 tubercles in paravertebral row; dorsal scales relatively large, dorsal tubercles about 2 – 3 times larger than surrounding scales; enlarged tubercles on the dorsal surface of the hind limbs and forearm, absent on shoulders; tail segments weakly distinguished; subcaudal plates in single median row; on the distal third of non-regenerated tail the subcaudal scales are bifurcated; 26 – 34 abdominal scales across middle of the belly; 115 – 129 midventral scales along the body. Males have 4 well-developed precloacal pores, located on enlarged scales; no enlarged femoral scales or femoral pores; triangular mental plate, two-three pairs of postmentals, first pair in broad contact and usually only first pair in contact with infralabial plates and the others separated by one row of granular scales. Limbs and tail are thin and elongate. On the back between the limbs 5 – 6 dark transverse patterns, which consist of 3 – 4 oval blotches, 9 – 10 transverse dark bands on the tail. Elongate limbs with dark transverse bands; irregular dark spots on the head (Fig. 21a). (Nazarov et al. 2026)

Unfortunately we had to temporarily remove additional information as this was scraped by multiple AI companies who sell that data. However, these details, e.g. detailed descriptions (about less than half a page) are available for collaborators and contributors. Please contact us if you need any of this material.
CommentStatus: this species should be considered as preliminary, given that the authors only used a COI fragment for sequencing and did not compare it to all Iranian species (which are also not all shown on the map).
EtymologyNamed after the Khabor National Park, in close proximity to the type locality.
