Type locality: Iran, Fars Prov., 60 km SE of Darab, near Layzangan Vill. (28.666668° N 54.966668° E; elevation 2159 m a.s.l.),  
Reproduction 
TypesHolotype. ZMMU R-15003 (field number RAN 2930). Adult male collected by Roman Nazarov and Mahdi Radjabizadeh on May 02, 2014. Paratypes. Two adult males, ZMMU R-16000 (RAN 2931) and ZISP 30415 (RAN 2932) have the same collection data as the holotype. Two adult females ZMMU R-15004 (RAN 1141) and ZISP 30416 (RAN 1142) were collected 30 April 2008 in the same locality by R. A. Nazarov, D. A. Melnikov, and Mahdi Radjabizadeh (RAN 2931 and RAN 1141 to be deposit in MMTT). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A species of Cyrtopodion characterized by the following combination of characters: SVLmax in adult females 51.3 mm, TailL 70 mm; snout rounded with relatively short rostrum (HeadLGSnEye 2.75); eyes large (HeadLGOrbD 4.0); smooth round dorsal tubercles in 12 rows across the middorsum and 26 – 32 paravertebral rows along the middorsum (between occiput and the middle of sacrum); enlarged tubercles present on the dorsal surface of hindlimbs, faintly visible on the forearm and absent on the shoulders; tail segments formed by large, strongly-keeled elongate tubercles, subcaudals in single median row of transversely enlarged plates, bifurcate on the tip of original tail; 26 – 34 abdominal scales across middle of belly, 112 – 118 midventral scales along the body; 4 – 6 precloacal pores in males, located in a row of enlarged scales. No enlarged femoral scales or femoral pores; 8 – 10 infralabial scales, 11 – 12 supralabial; large triangular mental plate, three pairs of postmentals, with the first pair usually separated from each other by 1 – 2 small granular scales or in point contact. Limbs and tail thin and elongate. Dorsal pattern consist of 6 wide, dark, three-pointed transverse bands and 11 – 13 wide, dark transverse bands on the tail. (Nazarov et al. 2026)

CommentStatus: this species should be considered as preliminary, given that the authors only used a COI fragment for sequencing and did not compare it to all Iranian species (which are also not all shown on the map). 
EtymologyNamed after the type locality, the village Layzangan, in the vicinity of which this species was found.
