| Diagnosis | Diagnosis (n=3): Dinodon nuiongensis sp. nov. can be distinguished from all congeners by the following combination of morphological characters: medium-sized, total length up to 630 mm; supralabials 8 or 9, with 3rd–5th contacting the eye; infralabials 10; one preocular and two postoculars; loreal single, in contact with the eye; anterior temporals 2, posterior temporals 3; tail length/total length ratio 0.18–0.20; dorsal scale rows 17-17-15; keeled dorsal scale rows 7–11 at neck, 9–11 at midbody, and 13 before the vent; ventrals 210 or 211; cloacal plate single; subcaudals 74–82; hemipenis unforked and spinose, reaching the 8th or 9th subcaudal; maxillary teeth 7+4; cross-bands 19–23 on body and 11–14 on tail.
