Distribution	Australia (N New South Wales, Queensland, islands of Torres Strait, islands of the Great Barrier Reef), S Papua New Guinea, Louisiades (?) Type locality: Cape Grenville, South of Shelburne Bay, east coast of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland.

Types	Neotype: QM J.40870, designated by King, 1984. Holotype: lost, formerly MAMU (fide KING 1984)
Diagnosis
Comment	Synonymy: Bauer (1994) discusses synonymy issues with G. australis, grayi, variegata etc. and synonymized Dactyloperus kingi with G. variegata. KLUGE 1993 includes G. torresiana GÜNTHER 1877 in the synonymy list of G. dubia. In addition, KLUGE (1993) lists [Gehyra] mestoni and [Gehyra] grayi as synonyms of Gehyra variegata.
Etymology	Presumably named after the Latin dubius (doubtful), possibly relating to uncertainty in Macleay's mind about the distinction of this species. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
