CommentSynonymy: Smith 1943 synonymized Simotes amabilis with Oligodon albocinctus which was followed by Wallach et al. 2014. Lee et al. 2025 resurrected it in the genus OIigodon. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin albus = white, and Latin cinctus, surrounded, encircled, even though the bands around the body are usually not white.
