Type locality: “South-Travancore mountains, Madras Presidency, 3000 feet elevation” [= S India]. Emended to Tinnevelly hills [= ext. S Tamil Nadu, S India] fide Boulenger (1894a: 236).

EtymologyNamed after its distribution in the far south of the Western Ghats, in the southern parts of the ‘Travancore’ hill ranges.
