CommentThe name “Phrynocephalus roborowskii” was first published by Przewalski (1888: 165, 223, 298, 399, and 420) without a diagnosis and was therefore a nomen nudum then. This name became available only with the publication by Bedriaga (“1905” 1906a: 172) who provided the formal description.
EtymologyNamed after Captain Vladimir lvanovich Roborovski (1856-1910), an explorer of parts of China and Tibet. He accompanied Przewalski on his third and fourth expeditions (1879-1880 and 1883-1885).
