Type locality: Mt. Koshidake, Theya-son, Iheyajima island, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan (27°2'31.4"N, 127°57'44.2"E), collected by K. Kurita on 6 September 2015.  
Reproduction 
TypesHolotype: KUZ R70467, an adult male, Paratypes (n = 4): all from Iheyajima island. KUZ R50353, a yearling male from Mt. Koshidake, collected by H. Ota on 21 June 1999; KUZ R66320, CAS 267587 (former KUZ R66322), a hatchling male and a hatchling female from Mt. Koshidake, collected by K. Kurita on 16 September 2009; OPM-H-933, an adult male from Mt. Koshidake, collected by F. Sato on 23 April 1984. Additional material: one specimen (KUZ R70468) from Theyajima island, Okinawa Group, Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Plestiodon iheyaesilvae sp. nov. is assigned to the P. latiscutatus species group, but can be distinguished from the relatives by the following combination of morphological characters: (1) MSR 24 (mean =24.0, mode = 24; n = 5); (2) C10SR 11 (mean = 11.0, mode = 11; n= 5); (3) PoSO 3 (mean = 3.0, mode = 3; n = 5); (4) PPN usually present (present in four and absent in one cases; n = 5); (5) longitudinal light line five; (6) DLL passing third dorsal scale row at midbody (in all cases; n = 5); (7) LL usually passing on sixth dorsal scale row at midbody (fifth and sixth rows in one and sixth row in four cases; n = 5); (8) EISPF absent; (9) body coloration of juvenile very vivid.
