Diagnosis	Diagnosis (lanzai). Eine erheblich nachgedunkelte Rasse, deren braune Grundfarbe von den in viele Fleckchen aufgelösten schwarzen Längsbändern stark verdrängt ist; diese können auch verloschen sein. Bauch hellgrau bis rauchgrau, selten gelb. Rückenschuppen zahlreich, 70-81 in einer Querreihe. Größe von Kopf und Rumpf nicht über 70 mm. Comment	Subspecies: Senczuk et al. 2019 elevated P. siculus latastei from subspecies to species level and moved 5 subspecies from siculus to latastei while they retained their subspecies status.
Etymology	Named after Fernand Lataste (1847—1934), a French naturalist.
