Type locality: "Île de Tidore, Nouvelle-Guinee" [= Tidore Is., Maluku, Indonesia, 00041'N, 127°24'E].  
Reproductionoviparous (manual imputation, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesSyntypes: MNHN-RA 1878.0214-0215; Collected by: M.J.A. Raffray & M. Maindron. Collection Date: December 1876 (purchased from MM Raffray and Maindron, May 1878). Other Syntype: (n=1), MNHN 1878.215, a 175 mm specimen; same info as the other syntype.

Comment 
EtymologyNamed after Latin bipartitus (bipartītus [“bisected”, "divided"]), past participle of bipartire "to divide into two parts," from bi- "two" + partitus, past participle of partiri "to divide." It refers to clearly distinctive two colors of dorsal and ventral parts of the species.
