Diagnosis	Diagnosis: This insular race differs from the typical form in its smaller size (adults 57-64 mm, compared with 68-88 mm in the typical form), lower ventral counts (84-89 versus 95-108) and darker colouration [from Broadley 1990]. Comment	Group: Belongs to the S. arenicola group. Limb morphology: Limbless (Branch 1998: 143).
Etymology	Apparently named after Benguerua Island where the species was found. The etymology was not explicitly mentioned by Broadley.
