Distribution	Solomon Islands: Kolombangara, New Republic of Georgia, Vangunu, Russell Islands, Guadalcanal, Ngela, Malaita. Type locality: Kolombangara, Solomon Islands.
Reproduction	oviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022)
Types	Holotype: FMNH 13841
Diagnosis	Diagnosis: A small Sphenomorphus allied to S. minutus (Meyer), from which it is distinguished by having fewer scales around the body, a more pointed snout, larger prefrontals, and a larger number of subdigital lamellae [from SCHMIDT 1932].
Comment	This species belongs to a new genus to be described, as it nests within the Eugongylini, fide Chapple et al. 2023.
Etymology	Named after Charles Robert Bignell (1892-1964), a planter at Ysabel, Solomon Islands who occasionally hosted visiting biologists, inlcuding K. P. Schmidt.
