| Etymology | Presumably named after Professor Maximilian Christian Gustav Carl Braun (1850-1930), professor of zoology at the Universitat Konigsberg from 1891. He wrote Beiträge zur Biologie der Vögel von Angola (1930). Beolens erroneously stated that the species was named after Rudolf Braun, born 1908, that is, 6 years after Tornier described the species (Shea 2012). |
