| Comment | Type species: Perinetia coulangesi DOMERGUE 1988: 135 is the type species of the genus Brygophis DOMERGUE & BOUR 1988. The name Perinetia is pre-occupied by Perinetia Collenette 1936 (Lepidoptera), Perinetia Seyrig 1952 (Hymenoptera), Perinetia Lallemand & Synave 1954 (Homoptera) and others. Ruane et al. 2025 synonymized Brygophis with Compsophis. Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). Etymology: The genus Brygophis was named after E.R. Brygoo, French herpetologist, and Director of the Laboratoire des Reptiles et Amphibiens at the Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris. |
