Type locality: Pulu si Laut, Cocos islands, Indonesia  
Reproduction 
TypesLectotype: ZMA.RENA 10111, Pulu si Laut, Cocos islands, Indonesia (coIl. E. R. Jacobson, 21.VllI.191 (The only specimen of the type series, actually belonging to this taxon, as the other one, ZMA 10112, is reidentified by Mr. R.F. Inger in 1961 as Calamaria modesta). Paralectotype: ZMA 10112, Abail, Simalur, Indonesia (coIl. E. R. Jacobson, IV.1913), = Calamaria modesta Dumeril & Bibron. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Maxillary teeth unmodified; third and fourth supra-labials entering orbit; preocular present; mental not touching anterior chin shields; paraparietal surrounded by 6 shields and scales (Inger & Marx 1965: 70).

CommentThe holotype has unmodified maxilla teeth as six other species. The paratypes are with modified teeth and eventually become a synonym of C. modesta [DJOLO ISKANDAR, pers. comm., 8 Aug 2011).

Distribution: the type locality is Cocos Island, north of Simeulue, Sumatra. This island is not Cocos Island near Christmas Island. May have been erroneously reported from Borneo, but not present there fide I. Das (pers. comm. 17 March 2013).
