Type locality: east side of Lac Tsimanampetsotsa within Tsimanampetsotsa Strict Nature Reserve, 24° 05' S, 43°45' E, 20 m elevation, Betioky Fivondronana, Toliara (Tulear) Province, Madagascar.

Comment 
EtymologyThe specific name "maintimainty" is Malagasy for "dark"or "nearly black", and is used as a noun in apposition referring to "the dark one".
