Type locality: "from Moropon, Departamento de Loreto, Peru."  
Reproductionovovivparous 
TypesHolotype: TCWC 39093, a 352 mm (SVL) female (P. Soini, May 1972). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Helicops yacu can be distinguished from all congeners by the combination of having an entire nasal scale, and intergenials present (for information on references see Suppl. material 3, Schöneberg & Köhler 2021).
