CommentSubspecies: Afroedura karroica halli (HEWITT 1935) is now considered as a valid species, hence karroica does not occur in Lesotho. 
EtymologyNamed after Karroo, a semi-arid area in South Africa; in turn, from the Khoikhoi Karoo, land of thirst or dry land + Latin -ica, suffix used to indicate possession or association with something.
