CommentMcDowell (1975:26) suggested that this species is intermediate, morphologically and geographically, between C. melanotus and C. opisthorhodus. 
EtymologyNamed after Greek isos, meaning equal and Greek lepis, meaning scale and refers to the homogenous body scalation.
